Last updated: April 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Writ ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at trywrit.com and our AI-powered intake form builder service (the "Service").
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed by our identity provider, Clerk).

- Form content. The prompts you submit to generate intake forms and any files you upload for context.
- Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

- Device data. Browser type, operating system, IP address, and general location (city-level).
- Cookies. We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How we use your information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Generate AI-powered intake forms based on your prompts
- Extract branding from firm websites to customize form appearance
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send transactional emails (form submission notifications, account updates)
- Detect and prevent spam, abuse, and security threats

Form submission data
Respondent data is encrypted at rest. When prospective clients fill out forms created through Writ, their submission data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption before storage. Only the form owner (you) can access decrypted submission data through the Writ dashboard.
We do not sell, share, or use respondent submission data for any purpose other than delivering it to the form owner.
Data sharing
We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), and AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) for form generation.
- AI providers. Your prompts are sent to AI models to generate form schemas. AI providers process this data according to their respective data processing agreements and do not use your prompts for model training.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Data retention
- Account data is retained for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Form submission data is retained according to your plan settings. Team plan users can configure automatic deletion after a specified number of days.
- AI generation logs (prompts and generated schemas) are retained for 90 days for quality improvement, then deleted.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your form data and submissions
- Opt out of non-essential data collection

Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
